As you gather with family and friends around the bonfire this Lag B’Omer, these tasty treats will definitely light up some smiles!
1. Campfire Cinnamon Roll-ups
Two options with this one to keep it really simple – either use canned cinnamon rolls or add the cinnamon and sugar yourself with crescent rolls.
For either option: separate the dough and wrap them around wooden skewers.
If you are adding the spices yourself, sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar (or the baking sugar substitute of your choice). Cook over campfire for 5 minutes, rotating frequently.
The canned cinnamon roll option will come with its own dipping glaze; if you want to make it yourself then mix 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 2-3 tbsp water together and drizzle over the roll-ups.

2. Fudge Striped Cookie S’mores
No real “recipe” required – simply use fudge striped cookies instead of graham crackers and chocolate when sandwiching your toasted marshmallow!

3. Bonfire Banana Boats
These are an oldie but a goodie for campers!
- 4 bananas
- ½ chocolate chips
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- Optional other toppings: peanut butter or Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Using a knife, cut a slit down the curved length of each banana, making a pocket but taking care not to cut all the way through the back of the banana.
Start stuffing your banana boat with chocolate chips, as they will help pry the banana open. Next, add the marshmallows and any other toppings. A little goes a long way here!
Place the stuffed banana boat on a square of tin foil. Bring the corners up and crimp together the sides, creating a foil packet around the banana. Repeat with the other bananas, getting your group involved as you go.
Carefully place the foil packets in the coals of a bonfire (or in a 350 degree oven if it becomes a rainy day!)
4. Strawberry Shortcake Kebabs
- 1 loaf (shortcake, sponge cake, brioche, or angel food cake)
- 1 lb pkg strawberries, washed, with hulls removed
- wooden skewers
Cut the cake into small cubes, and skewer them alternating with the strawberries. Roast over the fire alongside your traditional marshmallow toasting.
5. S’mores in a Bag
Enjoy the smores taste without the sticky fingers!
- Snack packs of Teddy Grahams
- Marshmallows
- Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars, broken into pieces (or you could use chocolate chips)
Open the bag of Teddy Grahams and add the chocolate pieces. Toast your marshmallow, then immediately add it to the bag so it will be hot and melt the chocolate. Use a fork to mix it together and eat!
